Cataratas Group

Since 1999, the Cataratas Group has been operating with excellence in the management and operation of experiences in parks and tourist attractions in Brazil. The Group’s involvement began with a single attraction, and today there are already seven natural parks and managed attractions, providing higher quality visitation experiences.

It all started in Foz do Iguaçu, when a group of investors came together to compete for the concession of tourist services at the Iguaçu National Park and establish Cataratas do Iguaçu S.A.

This was the beginning of a journey to conquer new business in the ecotourism sector. Gaining experience and proving effective in service quality and environmental care, the Group expanded its ventures with EcoNoronha in 2011. The following year, they reached Rio de Janeiro with the concession of Paineiras-Corcovado and the establishment of AquaRio.

In 2014, the investment fund Advent International saw an investment opportunity in the Cataratas Group and acquired 50% of the company, bringing management and innovation concepts to the Group. This is when the Holding company was formed, now headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, responsible for corporate actions of the company.

Among the most recent achievements, the sustainable tourism portfolio of the Group added the Marco das 3 Fronteiras (2015) in Foz do Iguaçu, and the BioParque do Rio (2016), formerly known as RioZoo, in Rio de Janeiro. The inauguration of AquaFoz is also scheduled for 2023, a center for education, research, and conservation focused on the ecosystems of the Paraná and Iguaçu river basins.
